Patricia Hershberger, PhD

Dr. Patricia Hershberger is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Illinois Chicago and is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Hershberger’s research focuses on supporting patient decision making in medical reproduction. She is the recipient of numerous awards including a NIH Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH/ K12 HD055892) Scholar Award in 2009 for which only a handful of nurses have received; the National Award of Excellence in Research from the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses in 2013; and a Distinguished Scholar Award from Seoul National University in 2019. Dr. Hershberger is currently the PI of a pilot, randomized controlled trial (NIH/R34NR019278) to evaluate a decision support tool for parents that used sperm, oocytes or embryos to establish their families. Dr. Hershberger is currently serving as Chair of the Executive Board of the Nurses Professional Group for the American Society for Reproduction.
